Who's who in the new Labor government?

While Anthony Albanese is yet to announce his ministry, these are the shadow ministers that led his election team.

Anthony Albanese+

Anthony Albanese is the current member for Grayndler, NSW, which he has held since March 1996.

He's the Labor leader in the House of Representatives.

He has previously served as Minister for Regional Development and Local Government (2007-2010), and Infrastructure and Transport (2007-2013) during the Rudd-Gillard years.

He also served as Deputy Prime Minister for a few months in 2013.

Richard Marles+

Richard Marles is the current member for Corio, VIC, and the deputy Labor leader.

He's also Shadow Minister for National Reconstruction, Employment, Skills and Small Business, and for Science.

Marles has previously served as Minister for Trade in the second Rudd government (2013). In the shadow ministry he's held the portfolios of Immigration and Border Protection (2013-2016) and Defence (2016-2021).

Penny Wong is a senator for South Australia. She's the current Labor leader in the Senate, and the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Wong has previously served as Minister for Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Water (2007-2010) in the first Rudd government.

She was Minister for Finance and Deregulation (2010-2013) in the Gillard government.

Tony Burke is the current member for Watson, NSW.

He's the Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations and for the Arts.

In the first Rudd government, Burke served as the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (2007-2010).

Under Gillard he was Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water and Population (2010-2013), and then Minister for Immigration in Rudd's second government (2013).

Bill Shorten is the current member for Maribyrnong, VIC and Shadow Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and for Government Services.

Shorten has previously served as Minister for Financial Services and Superannuation (2010-2013), Workplace Relations (2011-2013) and Education (2013).

He was Labor leader between 2013 and 2019, losing the 2016 and 2019 federal elections.

She's Shadow Minister for the portfolios of Education and also Women.

Plibersek served as Minister for the Status of Women (2007-2010) and Housing (2007-2010) in the first Rudd government. She was Minister for Social Inclusion (2010-2011), Human Services (2010-2011) and Health (2011-2013) under Gillard.

Between 2013 and 2019 she was deputy Labor leader.

Chalmers has previously served as Shadow Minister for Finance (2016-2019) and Financial Services and Superannuation (2015-2016).
