Jamaica's Usain Bolt has run the fastest 100m final at the Olympics, with a time of 9.63 seconds at the London Games in 2012.

In the time Bolt ran the 100m, Thomas Burke - the gold medallist from 1896, with a time of 12 seconds - would have run 80.25 metres, almost 20 metres behind Bolt.

Florence Griffith-Joyner's time of 10.54 seconds at the 1988 Seoul Games still remains the fastest womens 100m time at the Olympics.

In the time Griffith-Joyner ran in 1988, Shelly-Ann Fraser - the gold medallist in 2012 with a time of 10.75 seconds - would have been almost 2 metres behind.
