Pre-print articles are scientific papers that are shared publicly before they have been reviewed by experts through the formal peer-review process. Although this allows rapid release of research findings, which can take months to years to publish, pre-print articles may have serious deficiencies. Peer review by appropriate experts ensures published science is of the highest quality and rigour.
